Where the water appears is not always where it enters
A ceiling stain, a missing tile and a loose piece of flashing call for different checks. Water can travel before it becomes visible indoors. Repeating a patch in the place where it shows up may leave the original defect untouched.
We carry out roof repairs from our Peterlee base across Durham, Sunderland, Newcastle, Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough and Darlington. Describe the problem first: when it started, what weather brings it on, whether water is entering now and what repairs have already been attempted.
There is no call-out fee. The actual work and its cost are agreed separately. For a flat covering rather than slate or tile, use flat-roof repairs.
What to discuss with the roofer

For chimney and wall junctions, see lead work. Where the cause of moisture is unclear, read roof leak or condensation before assuming a new covering is the answer.
Useful information without putting yourself at risk
Call if the problem is active and explain any immediate concern. Take photos only from the ground or another safe place. Do not climb onto the roof, stand beneath loose material or move damaged parts to get a clearer picture. Let us know if access below the roof is restricted.

- The part of the building affected and any safe wider photograph.
- Previous repairs and any timing or access restrictions.
Ask whether the suggested work is a temporary measure or a permanent repair, what it includes and what remains excluded. A small visible defect can still require substantial access; a larger stain does not automatically mean a larger roofing job.
Agree the repair before work starts
The aim is a clear scope based on the defect found. Compare access, materials and associated detail as well as the price, and ask how any concealed problem would be discussed.

Can you help with an urgent roof leak?
We accept emergency roofing enquiries. Call and explain whether water is entering now. Availability and the safe access needed must be discussed; we do not promise a fixed arrival time or round-the-clock attendance.
Do you repair slipped or broken tiles?
Tile and slate repairs are part of our roofing work. The surrounding roof and the reason the tile moved or broke should also be considered before agreeing the repair.
Is there a call-out fee?
There is no call-out fee. The scope and cost of any work still need to be agreed; this does not mean the repair itself is free.
Will you always recommend replacing the roof?
No. A local repair may be appropriate where the surrounding roof remains suitable. Replacement is a separate discussion when wider condition or recurring defects justify it.
