Look beyond the visible line of lead
Lead flashing is part of the weathering detail where a roof meets a wall or chimney. A repair enquiry may also involve nearby tiles, masonry or other adjoining components. Simply covering the visible gap does not establish that the route of water has been addressed.
Describe the location of the damp and when it happens. A wider photograph taken safely from the ground can show which junction is involved; a close crop of a ceiling mark cannot show the outside arrangement.

The access required can affect the job even where the visible repair is small. Do not compare prices only by the apparent size of the lead strip. Scaffolding, protection and the arrangement of the roof may be part of a sensible scope.
